Charles Mangin, "Girl with the Pearl Earbuds (apologies to Vermeer)". Used with permission.
What happens when the devices we love, love, love so dearly began to love us back -- really return the love?

This is the premise of Ear Buds, Block and Tackle's entry into the Manhattan Repertory Theatre's current one-act play competition.

Why do you need to see this play, aside from the fact that it's very witty, timely, and well-cast?

Because if we win the competion, which has a preliminary round and a final round, we win the $1000 prize.

$1000. $1000. Did we say $1000? $1000.

And we can only win if you pack the house and vote us into the winner's circle.

Now, the nuts-and-bolts of dates, reservations, cost, location, and cast.

Preliminary Round
• Wednesday, May 16, at 6:30 pm
• Saturday, May 19, at 7 pm
• Sunday, May 20, at 2 pm

Reservations/Location
• Reservations are email only at mrtreserve@gmail.com - leave the date(s) and time(s) and the number of tickets, and you'll get an email confirmation. (You are going more than once, right?)
• Tickets are $20 at the door, cash only.
• Location: 303 West 42nd Street, Suite 614

Director/Cast
• Directed by Elfin Frederick Vogel

The Final Round
Four plays selected through the withering competition of the preliminary rounds will get two more performances on Saturday, June 2, at 6:30 and 9 PM. From the Holy Four will arise the Anointed One (Thousand Dollars Prize).

And be very, very careful the next you think about upgrading your devices -- that's all we're going to say. Just be careful.

We have a number of other projects in the incubation stage at the moment, including a radio play and a short film. We have also secured two new board members.

Here are few intellectual morsels to keep you interested:
  • The Anger Project - Plays written to explore why these should be our days of rage.
  • Dead Mr. Beckett - Let's keep the dead hand of copyright off the throat of the living.
  • Sita Sings the Copyright - Nina Paley, creator of Sita Sings the Blues, has chosen to not to copyright her work. I applaud her decision.
